Benoît Castel is the former pastry chef of the Grande Epicerie de Paris. He has opened in the neighborhood of Canal Saint Martin his second bakery with a concept between a local shop and a trendy place. As in all bakeries which open at this time, there is a decoration made with marble but here it is twisted with raw materials to avoid the candy box effect. At the counter, there obviously are some bread and all the traditional bakery stuff, but also pastries that you can eat on spot or to take away.I tested the cheesecake: nothing to do with the U.S. recipe but it tastes good. The prices are reasonable. It is not enough to make a detour but it is a very good neighborhood address!
